(Everything You Never Wanted to Know About) How Taxes Drive Donor Behavior!

Guest Speaker: Elizabeth Wagner, Senior VP & Chief Philanthropy Officer

Registration is now open!

Monday, November 12th, 6 to 8 p.m. • Princeton

Studies show that tax benefits don’t motivate donors to give. For the charitable person who’s already inclined toward a contribution, however, state and federal tax implications often play a role in the gift’s timing and size. As a Trustee, it’s important to understand how the broader tax landscape may affect your organization’s finances, and also how to encourage individual prospects when you encounter them. You’ll learn:

  • Why so many people give in the last week of every year;
  • How recent federal tax reform may affect donor behavior, especially in NJ;
  • How to spot a good prospect for a planned gift; and
  • How to talk about bequests, beneficiary designations, and charitable IRA rollovers.

This session is ideal for:  Current board members with less than two years’ experience • Longer-serving trustees who want a formal reminder of best practices • Executive Directors

Please note: For this pilot series, registration is limited to 2 trustees (and/or the executive director per organization).
