Better Beginnings Child Development Center

Better Beginnings, NAEYC-accredited, provides parents with the opportunity to be employed while giving their children a valuable learning and nurturing environment.

Description:
Better Beginnings is an affordable child care center, subsidized with federal, state and local funders and contributors. Open 5 days a week, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the teachers use Creative Curriculum, and a balanced program that includes nutrition, cognitive projects and physical growth. It is located in the Sunday School rooms of the First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown, N. J., 318 North Main Street, and serves 99 students.

History:
Better Beginnings was started in 1967 with 15 children and a grant from the United Way, to assure that all children who entered public school would enter with an equal opportunity. It has since grown to serve 99 children and has had the opportunity to overcome many challenges to its continued service, thanks to the help of many supportive friends. It has been located in a number of churches during its years, including St. Anthony's, First Baptist, and Lutheran, all opening their doors and hearts to our beautiful young students. Most recently, we have become bilingual in Spanish and English, are working on Chinese, and some signing.
