Mercer Street Friends Food Bank
Established in 1987, the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank is a regional food center whose mission is to alleviate hunger through the distribution of food and grocery products; nutrition education and assistance; and advocacy and outreach. The Mercer Street Friends Food Bank is the largest supplier of donated food in Mercer County and the lynchpin that holds the hunger relief network together. Each week, the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank distributes an average of 50,000 pounds of food and groceries to faith based charities and social service agencies that form the hunger relief network: food pantries; soup kitchens; shelters for the homeless, troubled teens, and women and children; group homes and halfway houses; child care centers; senior citizen sites; and social service agencies serving meals to the disabled.
