Can you spend a few hours each month with a child of an incarcerated parent to help him or her reach his or her highest potential? Children of prisoners are extremely likely to follow in their parent’s footsteps - unless we reach out to them today. An additional caring adult in a child’s life can positively impact a child’s behavior, academic performance, confidence, and decrease the likelihood of entering prison. Volunteer with Amachi in New Brunswick. Amachi is a unique mentoring program that partners with faith based organizations to provide mentors for this vulnerable youth population. Mentor a child and serve your community! All applicants should be 21 or older and have access to a vehicle (those 18-20 may serve as onsite mentors). Prospective mentors will undergo a an application process which includes reference checks, background checks, training and an interview. Mentors will be matched with a child of an incarcerated parent from New Brunswick or the greater Middlesex County area. This opportunity is sponsored by: Amachi In New Brunswick
