Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on January 13, 2010 |
This is a fun place to meet and greet visitors to a circa 1900-1910 era living history farm. Upon entering the Visitor Center, visitors are greeted and the farm is explained to them. A self-guided tour map is given and explained, along with the day's specific activities. The gift shop is located here as well and the greeter would ring up gift shop sales. Answering the phone and forwarding calls is part of the job too. Many interesting people come through our doors and the greeter is often the first person to encounter visitors. This is a "people person" opportunity. Staff will train and explain the ins and outs of the opportunity. The volunteer should be willing and eager to speak with visitors, staff, etc. He/she will learn how to transfer phone calls, take messages, operate a simple cash register, etc. This is a fairly informal setting, with a coffee pot on all the time (sometimes some homebaked goodies!)Our staff is friendly and would enjoy working with a volunteer in this position. This opportunity is sponsored by: Howell Living History Farm
