Volunteer Title:  “College Internship” Program Development Consultant

General Description of Project:  The Clubs have many hands-on practical work experience opportunities for area college students. They are looking to establish regular and meaningful college internship experiences but need to develop a strong program and strategy to build relationships with area colleges to help implement the program.

Experience Required:  3+ years’ experience successfully developing and implementing new programs. HR or Career Coaching and Guidance experience is a plus.

Job Tasks:

  1. Research local college majors and related practical experiences required and match them against Club programming/internship opportunities to develop potential matches for partnerships.
  2. Work with Club staff on designing the internship experience/process based on these matches.
  3. Identify which key staff at the various local colleges the Club should connect with to establish these internships.
  4. Work with Club staff on developing a value proposition and presentation to the college faculty.
  5. Develop a match process for college students to the Club internship opportunities.
  6. Develop an orientation, tracking and recognition process for these students once accepted into the program.

Expected Outcomes/Outputs of Project:  Deliverable should include a written program plan focused on the development, strategy and execution of a new program.

Time Commitment:  40-60 hours – most of the work can be done off site with 2-3 in-person planning and touch points during the project.



Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County provides young people, ages 5 to 18, in Mercer County with social, enrichment and recreational activities through after-school, weekend, and summer programs. Each year, more than 2,600 youths in the Greater Mercer County area attend programs in our Trenton Clubhouse, six public school sites in the City of Trenton, and our Clubhouse in Lawrence Twp. Teens from five area high schools enroll in job preparation programs, complete paid internships, and prepare for post-graduate careers. More than 700 children and teens attend our summer camps.
